There’s is something so comforting and special about this golden milk turmeric latte.
Recently, in the past few years, my mother and I have grown remarkably fond of the benefits from fresh turmeric and fresh ginger. It started with our discovery of organically-grown, fresh turmeric and ginger at our local farmers market, The Cobblestone Farmers Market. Followed by a spontaneous trip out to Sedona, Arizona, where we fell in love with the concept of incorporating these two in a latte… because who doesn’t love a tasty latte on a cold night.
Turmeric:
You can’t mistake turmeric with it’s vibrant golden color, but that’s not it. Turmeric contains an active compound called curcumin, which is known for being a potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cancer fighting, and so on. Plus, let’s not forget about its agent in giving healthy, glowing skin!
Ginger:
Turmeric and Ginger actually derive from a very similar root. Ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory, as well! It has also been scientifically proven to aid in nausea, reducing muscle pain/soreness, helping osteoarthritis, lower blood sugars, and so on. It is also fabulous on its own, making a very refreshing ginger milk latte.
Ingredients:
1 cup Whole Milk
1 cup Coconut Milk
1-2 tbsp. Fresh Turmeric (peeled & thickly chopped)
1 tsp. Fresh Ginger (peeled & thickly chopped)
2 tsp. Coconut Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2-3 tbsp. Honey, sweeten to taste
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
1/4 tsp. Cardamon
Pinch of Black Pepper
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients into a blender, and pulse on high speed until it becomes a smooth texture.
Gently simmer the golden milk turmeric latte for 8-10 minutes, then whisk everything together.
Strain the latte as you pour it into your cup, or else it will be slightly thick.
Enjoy warm.
