Bigger Prayers Solve Bigger Problems

“Set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.” Colossians 3:2

When I hear this verse, I am typically like “Well, I definitely didn’t do that this morning” or “Yep, failed God once again.” …Anyone else out there do the same?… Because no matter how perfect a Christian, or any individual, may look on the outside… they are never perfect on the inside.

Now the majority of you are probably thinking about the worldly desires of being popular on Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, or whatever social media platform you’re on. But, these “worldly desires” can be such things as not allowing God to take control of our lives in troubling situations, and replacing His strength with our friend’s recommendations or our own opinions. Whether it be studying for a final exam, or not knowing which direction to take in life, or even what friends to make. Trust me, I know this can be a difficult one… yet God makes it so easy for us to just let go.

Sometimes Christians find it easier in life to pray for the simple things; such as praying it won’t rain on the night of an event, or praying for admittance into our number one college choice. But here is the thing, God already knows your life plan, and in most cases, He has a reason for that rain or for that letter of rejection. A reason that only God can understand or explain, which leaves us to patiently wait on a response to our bigger prayers. So instead, let’s start praying that God opens and closes the doors for the college of His choice, or start praying that He will use that event night as a way to glorify His name. Let’s start praying for God to make big moves. Pour your heart out to Him and give Him the problems that are weighing you down, because God will NOT let you down. His strength is there to help meet all of life’s challenges, and to help us endure them with patience and long suffering (Colossians 1:11).

Please let me know if I can ever pray for you.

xx L
