Copycat McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets

McDonald’s Cheeseburgers, Fries, & Chicken Nuggets are a combo that wins time and time again. So, we’re making it healthier and at home today!

Ingredients you’ll need (for the Chicken Nuggets):

  • ground chicken
  • eggs
  • salt
  • cornstarch
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • paprika
  • black pepper
  • flour
  • club soda

How to Make a McDonald’s Cheeseburger?

My secret formula for a copycat McDonald’s cheeseburger is the following:

  • ketchup on bottom bun
  • crisp lettuce
  • two smash burgers with American cheese
  • thinly sliced red onion
  • pickles
  • mustard on top bun

McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets (At Home)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. Ground Chicken
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 tsp. Kosher Salt
  • 1 cup Cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp. Onion Powder
  • 1 tbsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp. Paprika
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Club Soda

Instructions

  • In a food processor, blend the chicken, 1 egg, salt, and seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika) until paste-like.
  • Form the chicken into tablespoon sized nuggets.
  • Add the cornstarch to a bowl to coat the chicken nuggets in, then transfer to a parchment paper lined baking pan.
  • Freeze for 20 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining egg, and club soda. Season with more garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to desired taste. Mix until a smooth batter.
  • In a saucepan over medium high heat, bring 3-4″ of frying oil to 350F.
  • Working in small batches, dip the nuggets in the batter then add to the frying oil to cook 2-3 minutes, until floating.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel lined plate while you fry the other nuggets.
  • Working from the first batch of nuggets to the last, fry a second time for another 2-3 minutes, until golden.
  • Allow the nuggets to cool 5-10 minutes before enjoying!

  1. I couldn’t find ground chicken, so I cut chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and it was soooooo good! Bonus- I used King Arthur’s gluten free flour and that was excellent as well!
