Crispy Orange Chicken
Servings: 6
Ingredients
For the Sauce:
- BUBBL’R Twister Elix’r for serving
- Basmati Rice for serving
- 1 cup Fresh Orange Juice
- 3-4 tbsp. Honey
- 2 tbsp. Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp. Fresh Ginger grated or minced
- 2 Garlic Cloves minced
- 1 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
- 1 tsp. Flour
For the Chicken:
- 1 ½ lbs. Chicken Thighs boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tbsp. Soy Sauce
- 1 large Egg beaten
- 1 Garlic Cloves minced
- ½ tsp. EACH: Salt & Black Pepper
- ½ cup Potato Starch
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1/3 cup Flour
- Neutral Frying Oil
Instructions
- In a large pot with the stovetop heat turned OFF, combine all ingredients for the sauce. Whisk together until smooth, then let be while you prepared the chicken.
- Bring 2-3” of neutral frying oil to 350F, until glistening.
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken cut into bite-sized pieces and corn starch. Mix until chicken is coated.
- Create a well in the center to add the egg, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix in the center, then incorporate into the chicken.
- Sprinkle the baking powder and flour over the chicken. Mix well.
- Working in small batches, fry the chicken bites for 5-6 minutes, until golden. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the chicken to a paper towel line baking rack or plate.
- Once all chicken is fried, fry in small batches again for 1-2 minutes, until deeply golden and crispy. Repeat the slotted spoon and paper towel process.
- Turn ON the stovetop for the sauce to medium high. Stir until bubbly and slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the chicken (if pan is big enough) and toss until well coated in the sauce.
- Serve with basmati rice and BUBBL’R Twister Elix’r for a complementary drink!
