Roasted Garlic-Garlic Bread

Unlike the typical bitterness of raw garlic, our Roasted Garlic-Garlic Bread has a more caramelized flavor that just melts in your mouth. It’s crispy, salty, sweet, and calling your name! 😉

What is the difference between Raw Garlic and Roasted Garlic?

The biggest difference is their taste. Both versions add great health benefits and flavor to your foods; however, roasted garlic tends to be more milder and sweeter from the slight caramelization that happens as it bakes to be a beautiful light golden brown color.

How do you make roasted garlic?

Four simple steps!

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. Peel and discard the papery (outer) layer of the garlic heads so that it just leaves the skin of the individual cloves.
  3. Using a sharp knife, cut ~1/4″ from the top to expose the garlic cloves.
  4. Place face-side up in a single layer of aluminum foil. Drizzle with the olive oil, then season with salt and black pepper. Wrap in the foil, place on a baking pan, and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and soft.

As you can see from the picture above, the raw garlic becomes naturally caramelized in the oven and should be soft enough to squeeze out!

Should I toast the bread prior to adding the garlic-butter mixture?

Nope!

I would recommend spreading the mixture directly onto the inside of each baguette half, then baking on high heat for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges begin to be golden brown and CRISPY – YUMM

Can this be made vegan?

Yes, you can make garlic bread vegan! Simply substitute the butter for 6 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. It should still come together just the same, except the mixture will not be as thick when spreading on BUT it will still taste amazing!

What is the best bread to use for garlic bread?

My two recommendations are a baguette or a sourdough like ciabatta. 🙂

How many servings does this garlic bread recipe make?

The garlic-butter mixture will evenly (and generously) spread on 1-2 baguette halves. I ended up spreading it on 3 baguette halves, so I guess it depends on the size of your baguette. With that said, the mixture itself serves 10-12 people.
