The Ultimate Tuna Melt

On today’s tomato girl episode, we’re making the Ultimate Tuna Melts! I made these for my Poppa and I since they’re super easy to make for a healthy summer lunch, crunchy, creamy, high protein, loaded with antioxidants… the list of why you should make it could go on!

Wild Planet's Wild Albacore Tuna is my go to when making tuna melts – they practice sustainable harvesting to make sure both the oceans and your bodies are receiving the best!

Ingredients you'll need:

  • 4 slices Sourdough Bread
  • 2-4 slices Colby Jack Cheese
  • 1 Tomato, thinly sliced
  • 2 cans Wild Planet Foods Albacore Tuna of choice, drained
  • 1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1-2 tbsp. Fresh Dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. Honey
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 1/4th Red Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Celery Stick, finely chopped
  • Salt & Black Pepper, to taste

How to Make the Ultimate Tuna Melt:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the canned tuna, yogurt, chopped dill, honey, lemon juice, chopped red onion, and chopped celery. Mix well. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  2. Layer your sandwiches with the sliced cheese, sliced tomatoes, and the tuna mix.
  3. Heat up a griddle over medium high heat.
  4. Spread a generous slather of mayo on both sides of the bread, or drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Add the sandwiches to cook on the griddle 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy. Enjoy immediately!
