what is orzo?

Orzo is a type of pasta that’s shaped like large grains of rice, hence its name (it means “barley” in Italian, as it resembles the shape of barley grains). Despite its rice-like appearance, it’s made from durum wheat semolina, just like most other pasta types.

Orzo is incredibly versatile and can be used in a wide range of dishes—salads, soups, casseroles, or as a side dish. It cooks quickly (about 8-10 minutes), making it a great option for weeknight meals. When cooked, it has a soft yet slightly chewy texture, and it pairs well with everything from light lemony sauces to rich, creamy ones. It can also be used as a base for pilafs, risottos, or even baked dishes.

Can you make ahead salmon?

Yes, you can make salmon ahead of time! You can cook the salmon and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. When ready to serve, simply reheat gently in the oven at a low temperature (around 300°F) for 10-15 minutes to avoid drying it out.

If you’re looking to prep the honey Dijon crust ahead, you can apply the glaze to the salmon and store it in the fridge, uncooked, for a few hours or overnight. Then, just pop it in the oven or air fryer when you’re ready to cook. It’ll save you some time while still delivering fresh, flavorful results!
