Tarte au Soleil with Ham & Cheese

This Tarte au Soleil with Ham & Cheese is puff pastry layered with provolone cheese and honey baked ham for an easy holiday appetizer ready in less than 30 minutes!

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • 2 sheets Frozen Puff Pastry thawed
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 2 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
  • 6-8 oz. thinly sliced Ham
  • 6-8 oz. sliced Provolone Cheese
  • 2 tbsp. Dijon Mustard optional
  • 2 tbsp. Maple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Frozen Puff Pastry thawed
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 2 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
  • 6-8 oz. thinly sliced Ham
  • 6-8 oz. sliced Provolone Cheese
  • 2 tbsp. Dijon Mustard optional
  • 2 tbsp. Maple Syrup optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425F. Line a large baking pan with parchment paper.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to 1/4″ thick.
  • Place one sheet on the prepared pan.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the dijon mustard and maple syrup together. Brush over the puff pastry sheet.
  • Tear apart the ham and cheese with your hands to distribute evenly over the puff pastry sheet.
  • Top with the other sheet and gently press down to seal everything together.
  • Brush with the egg and garnish with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 6 minutes, then reduce heat to 400F to finish baking 12-15 minutes, until deeply golden brown and flaky. It’s best to bake in the middle rack of your oven to prevent any burning. Enjoy!
